In its efforts to promote continued water conservation, Olivenhain Municipal Water District is offering a free workshop to instruct area residents on the benefits of sustainable landscaping. OMWD invites members of the public to attend this workshop at its Elfin Forest Interpretative Center on Thursday, September 22.
Participants will discover sustainable landscape design techniques using native and California-friendly plants. Speakers will also educate participants on rainwater capture and reuse, soil basics, turf removal considerations, and rebates for water-saving devices. Additionally, speakers will provide guidance on drought conditions, water use restrictions, and the importance of water use efficiency.
The workshop will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at 8833 Harmony Grove Road in Escondido and registration is required. Course materials, light refreshments, and select water-saving devices will be provided at no cost. View details at www.olivenhain.com/events.
