OMWD to Host Free Workshop August 24 – The Benefits of Hydroponic Gardening

Olivenhain Municipal Water District, in partnership with BCK Programs, invites the public to attend a free workshop featuring an introduction to the benefits of hydroponic gardening systems. Hydroponic garden systems use up to 90% less water than traditional methods and can allow for faster growth and higher yields. The workshop will be held on August 24, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Elfin Forest Interpretive Center Honoring Susan J. Varty, located at 8833 Harmony Grove Road in Escondido.

This workshop is designed for individuals interested in learning more about hydroponics and for those interested in starting their own hydroponic gardening systems. The workshop will feature the benefits of hydroponic gardening versus traditional gardening, different types of available hydroponic systems, performing general maintenance and crop checks, and more. A question-and-answer session will be held following the presentation to offer attendees advice on how to get started with their own hydroponic systems.

Several different types of hydroponic systems will be on display for attendees to interact with during the workshop. For more information and to register for this event, visit www.olivenhain.com/events.
