Water Agencies Team Up with The Home Depot to Promote Efficient Water Use at Plant Giveaway Event

Olivenhain Municipal Water District and The Home Depot have teamed up with San Diego County Water Authority, San Dieguito Water District, and City of Carlsbad to kick off the spring season with a water-efficient plant giveaway event. The event will be held on March 26 at The Home Depot in Encinitas located at 1001 North El Camino Real. This event runs from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and a free, one-quart succulent will be given to the first 500 attendees.

“With California entering its third consecutive dry year, reducing water consumption is as important as ever,” said OMWD board president Larry Watt. “This event offers guidance for selecting the best water-efficient plants for your home. We hope this inspires more homeowners to make water-saving landscape transformations.”

The garden center parking lot area of The Home Depot will host vendor booths offering educational demonstrations on plant care, water conservation, and landscaping techniques; promotional giveaway items; as well as a coffee truck, music, and activities for kids. Representatives from OMWD, SDCWA, SDWD, and the City of Carlsbad will also provide customers with information on water conservation programs and free services.
