Water Agencies Team Up with Home Depot to Promote Efficient Outdoor Water Use at Garden-Friendly Plant Sale and Fair

Olivenhain Municipal Water District and Home Depot have once again teamed up to kick off the spring season with the semi-annual Garden-Friendly Plant Sale and Fair on Saturday, April 30 at the Encinitas Home Depot. All area residents are invited to attend this popular event, which runs from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

With California’s historic drought in its fifth year, adjusting landscapes to reduce water consumption is important as ever. Fair attendees can find tremendous value in consulting landscape industry experts who will be on hand to offer free advice on water-efficient landscape design and irrigation. Meanwhile, Home Depot will offer discounts on attractive, climate-appropriate plants.

The front of the Home Depot store will take on a festive atmosphere with give-away items, educational demonstrations, vendor displays, and activities for kids. Residents will obtain free expert advice from landscape designers, architects, and master gardeners on how to select water-efficient irrigation supplies and grow water-efficient plants that are successful in San Diego County. Home Depot nursery consultants will host informative how-to clinics, and representatives from local water districts will provide customers with information on water conservation programs and free services.

The April 30 Garden-Friendly Plant Sale and Fair, located at 1001 North El Camino Real in Encinitas, is hosted by Olivenhain Municipal Water District, Home Depot, San Diego County Water Authority, San Dieguito Water District, and Carlsbad Municipal Water District. The fair is open to the public and one of several fairs taking place at Home Depot locations countywide through May 21. For more information, visit www.watersmartsd.org.
