OMWD Receives Highest Achievement for Financial Reporting

Olivenhain Municipal Water District’s Finance Manager, Rainy Selamat, presented to OMWD’s Board of Directors at its August 19 meeting the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada, recognizing OMWD’s comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2014. This is the nineteenth consecutive year OMWD has received the award.

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

“We are proud to once again be recognized by the GFOA for our efforts as we provide high-quality service to our ratepayers,” said Larry Watt, Treasurer. “We believe in the importance of transparency, and we strive to put forward a thorough and complete financial report every single year. We are honored that these efforts have once again been recognized.”

The comprehensive annual financial report is developed in order to provide citizens, investors, and other interested parties with reliable financial information about the district. OMWD’s CAFR was judged by a panel of independent experts who determined that the document demonstrated a clear “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate the financial story and motivate outside individuals to read the CAFR.

GFOA is the professional association of state/provincial and local finance officers in the United States and Canada, and has served the public finance profession since 1906. GFOA members are dedicated to the sound management of government financial resources.
