OMWD Receives Highest Achievement for Financial Reporting for Twentieth Consecutive Year

Olivenhain Municipal Water District’s Finance Manager, Rainy Selamat, presented to OMWD’s Board of Directors at its August 17 meeting the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada, recognizing OMWD’s comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2015. This is the twentieth consecutive year OMWD has received the award.

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. This award recognizes OMWD’s commitment to ensure that financial plans, policies, and practices are efficient and organized to carry out long-term plans.

“We are honored that OMWD’s financial transparency efforts have once again been acknowledged,” said Christy Guerin, Secretary of OMWD’s Board of Directors. “Our ratepayers entrust us with the efficient management of public funds, and it is gratifying that reporting our achievements in doing so has been recognized for the last twenty years by a respected authority in public accounting.”

The comprehensive annual financial report is developed in order to provide citizens, investors, and other interested parties with reliable financial information about the district. OMWD’s CAFR was judged by a panel of independent experts who determined that the document demonstrated a clear “spirit of full disclosure” to visibly communicate the financial story and motivate outside individuals to read the CAFR.
