OMWD Receives Award for Financial Transparency
At its August 19 board of directors meeting, Olivenhain Municipal Water District accepted the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. This is the 31st consecutive year that GFOA has recognized OMWD for the quality of its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.
GFOA indicated that OMWD’s fiscal year 2025 report provided a high level of financial detail and displayed clear efforts to offer stakeholders with the utmost transparency. The annual report is subject to a comprehensive audit by independent accountants, ensuring the accuracy of data.
“The quality and transparency of OMWD’s financial reports is of the utmost importance,” said OMWD board treasurer Scott Maloni. “Receiving this recognition 31 years in a row validates our dedication to providing ratepayers with clear documentation of our expenses and affirms our commitment to financial accountability.”
GFOA established the award program in 1945 to encourage government entities to strive for full transparency and disclosure when preparing financial reports. One of the primary goals of the award program is to ensure that reports made public are accessible and developed to provide a thorough overview of the health of the organization.
Members of the GFOA’s Special Review Executive Committee determined that OMWD’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the period ending June 30, 2025 demonstrated a transparent overview of its finances and provided reliable information in an accessible manner.
