Celebrate Coastal Cleanup Day at Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve on September 21

Encinitas, CA—Olivenhain Municipal Water District has teamed up with I Love a Clean San Diego for California Coastal Cleanup Day 2019 to protect habitat at Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve. Volunteers are invited to assist OMWD rangers in removing trash and debris from Escondido Creek on September 21 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Cleanup volunteers at the Reserve will prevent litter from entering local waterways. If not removed, this debris can be harmful to sensitive riparian habitat and the animals that live there, and will eventually end up in the ocean.

California Coastal Cleanup Day provides an opportunity for all ages to give back to parks and communities. Last year, over 6,808 volunteers at 106 coastal and inland cleanup sites successfully removed 138,499 pounds of litter from San Diego County.
