Olivenhain Municipal Water District invites the public to take part in an Open House and Emergency Preparedness Event on September 6, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at 1966 Olivenhain Road in Encinitas.

OMWD will offer water-use efficiency tips, schedule free water use evaluations to help customers improve water use efficiency, and address customer inquiries. American Medical Response ambulance paramedics will demonstrate CPR and showcase a specialized response vehicle.

A Water-Smart and Fire-Wise Landscaping Workshop will take place during the event from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in OMWD’s boardroom. Attendees will learn tips on waterwise landscaping, firescaping techniques, and how to protect their property from wildfires. The workshop is offered in partnership with Rancho Santa Fe Fire Protection District and Encinitas Fire Department. Registration for the workshop is required at www.olivenhain.com/events.

Additionally, San Diego Gas & Electric, San Diego County Water Authority, and Leucadia Wastewater District will present their programs. Local elementary school students will also feature their environmentally focused projects.

Specialized vehicles operated by OMWD and LWD will be showcased for the public to view. Unless there is an emergency, Rancho Santa Fe Fire Protection District and Encinitas Fire Department intend to display a fire truck and engine. Visitors can also participate in free family activities, enjoy refreshments, and receive complimentary emergency preparedness and water-efficiency kits, while supplies last.
