Olivenhain Municipal Water District Awarded Highest Honor in Governmental Accounting and Financial Reporting

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada has awarded its Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to Olivenhain Municipal Water District. The award recognizes OMWD’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2022. This is the 28th consecutive year that OMWD has earned this honor.

“Our Annual Comprehensive Financial Report provides information on OMWD’s revenues and expenditures, and demonstrates the board’s commitment to stewardship and accountability with public funds,” said OMWD Board Treasurer Neal Meyers. “We are proud of our long history of publishing easily readable and efficiently organized reports, validated by this award.”

The report provides an overview of OMWD’s fiscal management, budget planning, and investment policies. According to GFOA, the certificate of achievement is the highest recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and earning this award represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

Since 1945, GFOA’s certification program has assisted state and local governments in ensuring that users of their financial statements have the information needed to assess their financial health. An impartial panel determined that OMWD’s ACFR met the program’s high standards, which include demonstrating a spirit of full disclosure of data to communicate financial statements and operating procedures accurately and clearly, inviting community involvement.

GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 21,000 government finance professionals throughout North America. GFOA members are dedicated to the sound management of government financial resources.
