North County Water Agencies Host World Water Day Celebration on March 21
Members of the community are invited to join several North County water agencies at a World Water Day celebration on Saturday, March 21. This free event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Grape Day Park, 321 North Broadway in Escondido.
The event will feature fun and educational activities for people of all ages including a visit from the Splash Science Lab. The interactive Splash Lab features hands-on stations that educate visitors about the effects of water pollution on the environment and why it is important to conserve water.
A three-hour workshop called Shape Your Space will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. During the workshop, a landscape design expert will teach how to convert turf areas to water-efficient landscapes. Workshop attendees will leave with the knowledge to create quality landscape, planting, and irrigation designs.
Attendees will have the opportunity to win prizes including a rain barrel and a family membership to San Diego Botanic Garden.
The focus for this year’s World Water Day is the link between water and climate change. Efficient water use reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Through this event, North County water agencies aim to express their appreciation for customers who are already conscientious of their water use and make it easier for everyone to use water wisely.
The event is hosted by Olivenhain Municipal Water District, City of Escondido, Vista Irrigation District, Rainbow Municipal Water District, San Dieguito Water District, Fallbrook Public Utility District, Rincon del Diablo Municipal Water District, and City of Carlsbad.
