Urban Water Management Plan
Water agencies throughout the state are required by the California Department of Water Resources to prepare Urban Water Management Plans every five years in order to show that adequate water supplies are available to meet existing and future water demands. OMWD’s 2020 UWMP update is currently under development, and must be submitted to California DWR by July 1, 2021. A draft will be made available for public review on this webpage in the coming weeks.
A public hearing will be held on May 19, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. The hearing will discuss
- 2020 UWMP
- Water Shortage Contingency Plan (included in 2020 UWMP)
- 2015 UWMP Amendment
OMWD welcomes public input as it prepares its draft 2020 UWMP update. If you wish to provide comments on OMWD’s 2020 UWMP update, please contact us.
OMWD’s last update was in 2015. The 2015 UWMP demonstrates water supply reliability over the next 25 years in conjunction with regional plans developed by the San Diego County Water Authority and Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.
OMWD’s 2015 plan was due to California’s Department of Water Resources by July 1, 2016. A public hearing on OMWD’s draft 2015 Urban Water Management Plan was held during the May 25, 2016 Board of Directors meeting. The final plan was adopted during the June 15, 2016 Board of Directors meeting.
